Postprandial Post

"Your love of gardening will take on new meaning in your life". That was the fortune from my fortune cookie today. I think the one from a couple weeks ago was better: "You will find much fulfillment with someone soon." Hmm, we'll see...

This is totally unrelated but here are my latest favorite new words:

par·ox·ysm \PAR-ick-siz-um\, noun:
A sudden outburst of emotion or action: a paroxysm of laughter.

spoonerism \SPOO-nuh-riz-uhm\, noun:
The transposition of usually initial sounds in a pair of
words. (i.e. I'm going nucking futz)

postprandial \post-PRAN-dee-uhl\, adjective:
Happening or done after a meal.

fugacious \fyoo-GAY-shuhs\, adjective:
Lasting but a short time; fleeting.

foofaraw \FOO-fuh-raw\, noun:
1. Excessive or flashy ornamentation or decoration.
2. A fuss over a matter of little importance.

discursive \dis-KUR-siv\, adjective:
Passing from one topic to another; ranging over a wide
field; digressive; rambling.

Oh and a random quote I stumbled across: "Formalism, by being an ‘ism,’ kills form by hugging it to death” (Peter Viereck)
